Make Today Matter!

Welcome back to Mom's No Chaos Zone!

A lot of people ask me “How do you get it all done?” I home school four kids, including a special needs teenager who needs to be toted to appointments on a regular basis, we have five acres of land including resident critters (chickens, ducks, goats, cats, and dogs) that need to be maintained, I’m the contact person for our home school group, our family volunteers at the local Harvesters distribution site for which I’m also the volunteer coordinator and teach Project Strength classes, my kids have the typical load of extracurricular activities keep track of, I have a home business, and I do like to write a bit here and there…

It’s a constant balancing act and I am NOT a naturally organized person. Early in my marriage I had to have *at least* a week’s notice for and sort of company so I could get my house to look just good enough not to be a total disgrace. And back then I didn’t do half the stuff I do now. I read every book on time management and organization I could get my hands on and every time I read one things would get better… for a week or two, then I’d fall back into the same patterns. I started to seriously think either something was terribly wrong with me or I was just “born this way,” either way giving up hope of ever being able to find anything in my house or show up to an appointment on time.

So what happened? One day surfing the blogosphere I ran across a program called Make Today Matter and I was intrigued by the claims that even a “naturally unorganized” person could learn to be balanced, organized, and productive. I decided to give it a try, not really expecting it to work any better than the other dozens of “solutions” I tried over the years….

At first I was unimpressed at the slow pace I was learning new things – I was used to getting a truckload of tips dumped on me at once. Now I was learning one new thing every day, sometimes every couple days. But I soon started noticing changes. The things I was learning were slowly building on each other and making a BIG difference in my mode of operation! Then people started asking me how I “got it all done.” I was so happy when Make Today Matter launched their MTM direct program so I could tell others about Make Today Matter and offer a practical and effective framework to balance their lives and make every day matter.
